Lake St. Clair – February 2015

Friday 13th February.

Picked all the kids up from school at 3pm then headed on our way to Lake St.Clair. We got stuck in a bit of traffic due to school time and the weekend, but we finally made it to the M1, then onto the Hunter Expressway, which we didn’t miss this time. We didn’t arrive until a bit after 7pm and struggled to find a good spot near the water. We finally settled on a spot, that wasn’t at all level, but managed to level the camper trailer with some extra timber we had…..we then had trouble hammering the pegs in as the ground was so hard…..all fun and games.

We got the trailer all set up then had hotdogs for dinner, only because it was fast and easy and they were all hungry by this stage. We didn’t get a fire going that night, as it wasn’t cold and would have been a waste as they were all in bed by about 9pm with us not long after, we did have a cup of tea first.

Saturday 14th February….Valentines Day!

Awake fairly early and didn’t have a good nights sleep as sometime during the night a bunch of young kids arrived and were drunk and drinking, they played loud music, were very loud themselves, went swimming and were very noisy. Took a while to get back to sleep, but finally did. They were gone by the time we got up.

We had breakfast and coffees and because we were up the hill a bit we had to cart chairs, boogey boards, paddle boards, towels and ourselves down to the lake. We spent most of the day down there, going back to the campsite for lunch. Down to the lake again, paddle boarding and playing around, was good fun and as it was rather hot, the water was lovely and refreshing.

Another day spent on the water.

Got a fire going early as we wanted coals for dinner, which was roast chicken and vegetables and because it was Valentines Day, Jason and I had a bottle of champagne, which was very nice indeed. The chicken turned out beautifully which we had with vegies and gravy. We all had dessert of marshmallows and sat around the fire for while before we sent the kids to bed, then we sat around the fire for a bit longer before heading off ourselves.

Sunday 15th February.

Had a slow morning with breakfast and coffee, which was terrible as the milk had frozen and the coffee was just like mud…..absolutely horrible.

We slowly packed up while the girls all played in the water, Kye actually made a ramp for Megan’s car, it didn’t quite make it up, but he had fun creating it. We packed up finally after another quick swim before making our way back to Sydney after lunch. We arrived after 6pm and unpacked quickly then started the washing…..oh the fun of camping!!!

Looking over Lake St.Clair, very pretty place.

Was a great, short trip away, although we don’t think we will visit Lake St.Clair for a little while to come as, unless you get a spot right by the water, the rest of the area is rather hilly and difficult with a camper trailer.
