Lake St.Clair is in the Hunter Valley, approx. 2.5 hours from our home. It’s not a 4WD destination at all, accessed via a bitumen road. It is a popular area for water sports being inundated with high powered ski boats and keen fresh water fishing anglers. There is not a lot of flat ground to set up camp as it slopes considerably to the waters edge. The times we have been there all the best sites were already taken hence we have never had a level campsite here. There are some quieter parts for the kids to swim in that are free of speed boats.
Camping fees are applicable, this includes the use of amenities. As there are so many other places to explore, we won’t be back here in the foreseeable future.
