Victorian High Country

Speaks for itself.
Speaks for itself.

We started this trip from Bendigo where we had spent a few days with family. The basic plan was to travel east to the Alpine High Country then continue north through the Snowy Mountains on the way back to Sydney. Jason had read up on a few places that sounded like good campsites and a few places that had some interesting history. As for the route, we basically joined these places up on the map and then tried to research to get some approximate travel times between them. However, we couldn’t pinpoint enough specific information, so it became a bit of an unknown as to whether we could stick to the planned itinerary.

As it turned out we did under-estimate the speed in which we had to travel between destinations. This was mainly due to the steepness and roughness of the tracks. It was still do-able, but it did make for some rather long days in the truck and hence this cut down the opportunity to enjoy one or two spots for a longer time. In hindsight, being the first time in this sort of terrain, it probably would have been better to travel with another vehicle.
